Sunday saw the first individual MR competition at Bisley of the season, organised by the London & Middlesex Rifle Association. The day dawned bright and early with a gentle wind leading to one shooter commenting that today would be a good day to check zeroes having swapped their scopes around. Maybe at a 1000x, but they’d be proven wrong soon!
Highlight of 1000x was Rob Lygoe missing low with his first sighter, asking others on his targets to kindly spot his next one before, in typical fashion, getting a central V bull. He finished with a 75.11, 1 V behind Jon Sweet on 75.12.
1100x saw the wind become far more interesting, with left and right wind often visible at the same time. Fast changes led several shooters to explore the wider parts of the target, with only Rob Lygoe sigh going clean with 75.11 again.
1200x proved highly entertaining as the same challenging winds continued to build. There was a period where magpies could be seen on multiple targets on different sides with multiple minute changes seen throughout. Charles Dickenson nearly delivered an amazing 73 with a magpie in the middle, sadly letting one shot slip out into the inner to finish with an impressive 72.7. Only five shooters broke 70 at 1200x (Charles, Norman Clark, Angus Macleod, Ashley Abrahams and, of course, Rob Lygoe).
Rob won with an amazing 223.30, followed by Charles with 218.22 and Norman with 218.18. full results can be found on the LMRA Website.
