GB Match Rifle
It’s Spring Meeting weekend! For some a sign that the MR season is well underway, for others a clue that it’s time to emerge from hibernation…A good Saturday with solid starts at 1000, achievable success at 1100 and downright fun at 1200. Three 220s (ex 225) lead the pack overnight with nothing below a 214 in the top 10, so good shooting in tough conditions.Sunday is now well underway, with 1000 done and 1100 started. For live results, see the English VIII website:www.englisheight.org.uk/Results/Spring-2026 ... GB Match Rifle
Once again, great to see a few of the GB Match Rifle community out helping coach the next generation of MR shooters. Some real potential seen and we hope to see a few shooting this year’s MR season and Hopton in July!BYSA EASTER BUNNY BLOWOUT 2026This weekend saw 90+ BYSA members, including alumni and current students from 14 universities, descend on the NRA’s National Shooting Centre at Bisley for our annual ‘Easter Bunny Blowout’ event. Over the two days, participants had the opportunity to shoot one of the NRA's shooting disciplines, including: Target Rifle, Civilian Service Rifle, Historic Service Rifle, Gallery Rifle & Pistol, Match Rifle and McQueen, with training spread over three ability levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced, all with a view to producing safe, confident and self-reliant young shooters who are competent to enter competitions in their chosen discipline. A huge thank you to all those who came and supported the event, from all the volunteers who kindly gave up their time to come and coach/help beginners get into the sport: Jon Binder-Swash, Colin Shorthouse, Oli Jones, James McCosh, Judy Scott-Langley, David Luckman, Susie Luckman, Charlotte Clifford-Evans, Chris Watson, James Lewis, Sophie Wentges, Phil Chapman-Sheath and the 2026 England Team to the West Indies. To all those BYSA members too numerous to mention who turned out to help coach and instruct others, or who volunteered to be on the ‘Hog Roast crew’, and to our volunteer Committee, and our many Discipline Sub-Committees; we thank them all for their tireless efforts putting the weekend together. As always it is very much appreciated. We would also like to say a further huge thank you to all those clubs and businesses who support the event either with their expertise, with discounts, or by kindly allowing us to use their facilities: Surrey Rifle Association, North London Rifle Club, Bunhill Lodge, Dark Horse Rifle Club, Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting, London & Middlesex Rifle Association, NRA of the UK, Bunhill Shooting Club, G.E. Fulton & Son, Dauntsey Guns, C&G Firearms, MDT Sporting Goods and in particular the ongoing support of the Royal Air Force Small Arms Association who have supported us from our very first event and without whom these events wouldn’t be possible. Finally, a special thank you to Piotr and Ewelina at the Surrey Rifle Association for providing such fantastic food all weekend; the quality and choice was superb, and we have had nothing but excellent feedback from our members. From all of us here on the committee at BYSA, we hope you had a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on the range again in November.Much shooting love!
